July

Our summer season was opened by a truly disturbing exhibition from noted Canadian artist and musician Toren Atkinson. Atkinson claims his nightmarish works are inspired by the fiction of early 20th century horror author H.P. Lovecraft and his 'Cthulhu Mythos' stories.

June

'Voodoo II'  (above top) was the centerpiece of a chilling exhibition by American weird artist Jason Voss. Voss's macabre and bizarre paintings, done using a variety of materials and techniques, raised more than a little controversy when the exhibition was opened on June 12, even soliciting a brief mention in the Los Angeles Times! Jason Voss is currently the agent for Aubrey Scott.

Last year, to mark the 150th anniversary of the mysterious death of Edgar Allen Poe, the Arkham Advertiser newspaper commissioned a series of gothic photographs to be taken of Poe's native Massachusetts by Richard D. Magrath. These were subsequently displayed at the Carmichael-Reardon gallery and on its website.

February

The gallery's first exhibition of the new millennium was the stunning work of up-and-coming fantasy artist Rebecca Kemp. Her work spans a diverse spectrum of the fantastical, and she certainly has a true sense of the weird and unsettling, as seen in the pictures above.
